Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Kickstarting your safari with an early pickup from Nairobi, you will head towards the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The 6 hour long drive to the reserve covers about 280km with a combination of smooth tarred roads and bumpy muddy trials. The last 90mins are particularly bumpy and not very suitable for people with back problems.
The Game Reserve is Kenya’s numero uno park and is usually on the “Must visit list” of every tourist. True to its legacy, the Masai Mara is full of life and home to over 450 species of birds and animals. The highlight of these rolling grasslands and Acacia savannas are the Big 5 ( Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard and Rhino) To say the least, it definitely crowns the climax of every other safari in Kenya.
Apart from the famous “Big 5”, the Masai Mara is known for another natural spectacle - The Great Migration. It is an annual activity which includes the migration of over one million wildebeest, zebra, gazelle etc from the Serengeti in Northern Tanzania to Kenya by crossing over the Mara river in search of fresh green feeding pastures. This is generally visible in the Masai Mara region in July or August.
The long day comes to an end with a delicious dinner and overnight rest at your chosen camp or lodge.
Note that the last 1-hour drive to Masai Mara is on the corrugated and bumpy road and may not be comfortable for clients with back problems. Clients with back problems can consider flying directly to (and out of) Masai Mara
Your safari will begin with an early morning game drive in the grasslands followed by breakfast back at the camp. Winding up with breakfast, you will head out to spend the whole day in the park in search of its popular resident predators and prey like Zebra, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Big 5 and so on.
Packed lunch will be consumed while you are on the safari, followed by a visit to the Mara river. The river is well known for its dangerous crocodile that provide ample kill viewing experiences.
The day comes to an end with a delicious dinner and overnight rest at your chosen camp or lodge.
Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru
The destination for today is the famous Lake Nakuru. Starting your day early and finishing up a quick breakfast, you will begin the 6 hour long journey covering a distance of about 340 kms to Lake Nakuru. On reaching Lake Nakuru in the afternoon, you will be just in time for a scrumptious lunch and a few hours to rest after checking-in to the lodge.
Early in the evening you will head out on your game drive to see one of the world’s largest ornithological sites. The lake Nakuru region is extremely famous for its flamingoes and diverse wildlife. What adds on even more awe to the place is the Black and White Rhinos that are found in this park.
The eventful day comes to an end with freshly prepared dinner and overnight rest at your chosen lodge or camp.
Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
